Mains-pressure hot water at every tap
With an unvented cylinder, both hot and cold water reach your taps and showers at mains pressure. Strong showers everywhere, fast-filling baths and no tank in the loft.

Cold mains water is fed into the base of the cylinder and heated. When you open a tap or shower, mains pressure pushes the hot water out, so hot and cold arrive at balanced pressure throughout the house.
There’s no cold-water storage tank, so no risk of contamination, nothing to freeze in the loft and drinking-quality water at every tap. Recovery is fast, typically 15–20 minutes for a 125-litre cylinder.
Unvented cylinders store hot water under pressure, so they must be installed and serviced by a qualified engineer. We’ve been installing them for over 10 years.

Is my mains pressure good enough?
Most homes are fine, but we always test pressure and flow before recommending unvented. We’ll tell you honestly if it isn’t suitable.
What size cylinder do I need?
Use the sizer on this page for a guide. Roughly, a family of four with two bathrooms suits 210–250 litres.
Does an unvented cylinder need servicing?
Yes, every year. The safety devices need testing to keep it safe and keep the warranty valid.
